Structure Section Details


This week I learned how to draw wall sections. In the initial drawing, I overlooked the complexity and rationality of the sections.

In the process of drawing, I learned about three different materials of walls: wooden walls, brick walls, concrete walls and stucco walls. Each material has its own characteristics and its own different ways of connecting.

It was a unique journey -- I had forgotten the details of the sections on almost all my previous studio assignments. This is the first time I came across such a detailed section drawing, I  spent more time drawing them than my classmates.

Final Assignment 1.0 : Big Place, Small Space

 This week's mission is to find a small place and transform it so that wasted space can be used more efficiently. In the choice of location, our group had many differences. After discussion, we finally chose a dead-end road located outside the teaching building. The reason we chose it is that it is surrounded by a lot of traffic, but this space is completely unused. Chinese Architecture From Qin Dynasty to Qing Dynasty (1.2)

  Colors:  Every color has its own and unique meaning and was used carefully in ancient Chinese architecture.  Purple was the most honorable color in ancient China and the reasons can be found in Chinese history  and religion. According to Taoist legend, the celestial Palace of the Jade Emperor was viewed as a star  near Polaris, which was perceived to be in purple color and located at the center of the universe (  Zhang, 2019).
