Hand-made Sketchbook

 It's my honor to show you my processes of making sketchbook here simply.

This manual draft book shows the passage of time by changing the plants on it. So it's not a fixed book, it's a flexible, changeable book.



















Paper Selections

The main paper I choose is called Xuan paper( Because it's light and has man-made patterns).

It is a specialty of the city near my hometown, as well as a treasure of Chinese culture. I also chose a non-patterned Xuan paper.














Cover Making

Final Assignment 1.0 : Big Place, Small Space

 This week's mission is to find a small place and transform it so that wasted space can be used more efficiently. In the choice of location, our group had many differences. After discussion, we finally chose a dead-end road located outside the teaching building. The reason we chose it is that it is surrounded by a lot of traffic, but this space is completely unused. Chinese Architecture From Qin Dynasty to Qing Dynasty (1.2)

  Colors:  Every color has its own and unique meaning and was used carefully in ancient Chinese architecture.  Purple was the most honorable color in ancient China and the reasons can be found in Chinese history  and religion. According to Taoist legend, the celestial Palace of the Jade Emperor was viewed as a star  near Polaris, which was perceived to be in purple color and located at the center of the universe (  Zhang, 2019). During the Ming and Qing dynasties, China's monarchy reached its peak of  centralization and to symbolize the supremacy of their powers, emperors in that era called the palace  they lived as “Purple Forbidden City”.
